When I had been ringing a year or two, I remember going to visit a relatively heavy ring of bells and catching hold round the back. Afterwards, a ringer pulled me aside and told me that he was surprised how well I had rung such a heavy bell! I'm not sure he would've pulled me aside if I had been a man.
