Monitor bias and proactively encourage women

At our annual association festival one year I realised that  the quarter-peal bands, arranged by the organisers, typically had only 1 or 2
women, and that year there were no female conductors. This was in spite of about 40-50% of attendees being women. More consideration and determination to encourage and develop female ringers would have seen different bands. I am shy to criticize volunteers who take on organisational duties. However, as a group we are missing out on developing some strong (female) ringers and conductors and it would be good to see that change.
